Book by Anyone Price: £32.90 vs £24.99

The short answer: a Book by Anyone book costs £32.90 paperback or £39.90 hardback in the UK, with free standard delivery (7–12 business days) or £10 express, on the prices we checked on 25 September 2026. GiftBookStory's comparable personalised book is £24.99 softcover or £34.99 hardback, delivered free, and every printed copy includes the digital version. Book by Anyone offers fiction, nonfiction and comics, paperback and hardback formats, and a preview before ordering. For legitimacy and service quality, check the independent review profile linked from its official website rather than treating this comparison—or any provider's own page—as a customer review.

The best Book by Anyone alternative depends on whether you want comedy or a wider genre choice, digital or print, and UK or North American fulfilment. Several claims in older comparison pages are no longer accurate.

Last checked: 25 September 2026. We checked the public product pages and order flows linked in this guide on that date. Prices, promotions and delivery estimates can change, so confirm the final total in each service's live order flow.

Book by Anyone price and cost

Current comparison

The services are not identical products. Comparing only the lowest headline price would hide the main differences: fiction versus nonfiction, digital availability, binding, genre, preview and where the book is printed.

1. GiftBookStory: multi-genre digital and print

GiftBookStory creates adult-focused personalised fiction from details about a real recipient. You can choose comedy, memoir, romance, adventure, mystery or drama, then review the proposed title, cover, chapter outline, format, price and delivery information before paying.

Current GiftBookStory prices are published openly: Digital Only is £9.99 / $12.99, softcover is £24.99 / $35, and hardback is £34.99 / $45. Printed editions include the digital version. This is the clearest fit when you want a genre other than pure comedy, need a digital fallback, or want both UK and North American local print routes.

It is still our own service, so do not treat this page as an independent review. Use the table to shortlist options, then inspect each provider's live product flow yourself.

2. BookTailor: comedy-first and UK printed

BookTailor's UK page describes a hilarious, personalised full-length printed book. It says the setup takes under five minutes, books are printed in the UK and delivery is free.

It belongs on the shortlist when comedy is the priority and you want a UK-printed product. Its checkout listed a £39.90 paperback, but its site showed orders as paused when we checked on 25 September 2026, so confirm it is taking orders before you plan around a date.

3. Be The Book: comedy novel or memoir

Be The Book offers adult fiction and nonfiction, with paperback and hardcover bindings. Its product listing started from $54.90 when we checked on 25 September 2026, and its public FAQ lists free standard shipping to the US, Canada, UK and Australia.

It is a direct option for someone who wants a comedy novel or a memoir and values a 240-page format. Confirm the destination, delivery window and final total before ordering because public prices and policies can change.

4. Pooks.ai: personalised nonfiction, ebook and audio

Pooks.ai is the outlier in this list. It creates personalised nonfiction around the reader's goals, interests and learning style, then supplies PDF, EPUB and optional audio. It offers a free sample before purchase.

Choose it for a practical learning, travel, fitness, cooking or self-development book. Do not choose it if the requirement is a printed comedy novel: its own page says print-on-demand fiction is not the product.

When Book by Anyone is still the right choice

Book by Anyone is a sensible choice when:

1. You want its comedy-led fiction, nonfiction or comic format.
2. You like the current title, theme, cover and preview options in its builder.
3. Its live price and delivery estimate suit your destination.
4. Its current independent review profile gives you enough confidence.

Its current UK site also offers both paperback and hardback for fiction and nonfiction. That removes two reasons older articles gave for automatically switching away.

When an alternative makes more sense

Consider an alternative when:

1. You want a different tone. GiftBookStory includes romance, memoir, adventure, mystery and drama as well as comedy.
2. You need a digital edition. GiftBookStory publishes a Digital Only option and includes digital with printed formats; Pooks is digital-first.
3. You want a transparent price before starting. GiftBookStory publishes its GBP and USD format prices on the pricing page.
4. You want practical nonfiction rather than a gift novel. Pooks is built around goals and learning.
5. You want to compare another long adult comedy book. BookTailor and Be The Book are closer format comparisons.

How we checked this comparison

We used each provider's public product or FAQ page, not affiliate roundups. We recorded only prices and claims visible on those pages or in their order flows on 25 September 2026, and did not copy customer testimonials into this article. GiftBookStory's own prices come from the same pricing configuration used at checkout.

For a neutral purchase decision, check:

• the final checkout total including delivery;
• the preview available before payment;
• binding and page format;
• current delivery estimate to your address;
• recent independent reviews, including lower-rated ones;
• the provider's refund or satisfaction policy.
